What's for Dinner (or Breakfast) Tonight- Waffles (or Pancakes)

This recipe is easy and tasty.  There is nothing wrong with breakfast for dinner for a change!

Most already have all the ingredients in their pantry.

Many of my friends now use this recipe as their "go to" waffle/pancake recipe.

It is fun to have the kids make this with you.

My children can make this on their own.

These waffles (or pancakes ) will be very fluffy!

Who would think you can make buttermilk waffles (or pancakes) without buttermilk?!

All you need is milk and white vinegar.

First combine milk and vinegar in a bowl. Set aside to "sour" for 5 minutes.

While milk is "souring," in a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Mix well.

In a small bowl, crack eggs. Always crack eggs in a separate bowl in case you get egg shells in the bowl.
It is easier to get the shell out if in a separate bowl.

Mix eggs and vanilla into "soured" milk.

Add dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Mix well until lumps are gone.

Batter  will be thick!

I tripled the recipe below (for waffles) for 4 people. We had leftover waffles. I did this purposely so that I would have leftover waffles. I put the waffles in the freezer. They are easy to reheat for a quick breakfast.

Either make into waffles or pancakes!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons White Vinegar
  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons White Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Kosher/Course Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Buon Appetite!

  1. This recipe is the number one choice for breakfast and dinner. After following your tips I will try at home. We can also use waffle mix to make pancakes, although you can't use pancake mix to make waffles, as it tends to be too thin and runny. You may find that pancakes made with waffle mix taste a bit different, but there's no reason that they will offer great taste. You can also include Martabak in your favourite dessert.
