What's for dinner tonight? Steak & Potatoes!

You would think cooking steak is easy!

It can be if you know what you are doing! LOL!

I did not feel like firing up the grill and going outside to cook.

Tonight, my oven and I will have togetherness!

I purchased 2 family steaks and a bag of russet potatoes.

I was going to make traditional baked potatoes (see my past recipes on how to make)
but decided to change it up a bit.
I am still making a "baked potato" but with a twist.
I am making baked steak fries to go with the steak.

Start by washing the potatoes.

Run them under water and scrub.
If you do not have a "Potato Brush" then just use your fingers and make sure you remove all debris.

Next cut the potatoes in half.

Then cut those wedges in half.

Arrange on a foil lined pan that has been sprayed with vegetable oil.

Spray the tops with vegetable oil.
Add seasoning!
Sprinkle Kosher salt, black pepper and garlic powder.
Put into a 375 degree pre-heated oven for 40 minutes.

While the potatoes are baking, prep the steak.

Line another pan with foil and spray with vegetable oil.

Spray top of steak with vegetable oil and
add my go to seasonings- kosher salt, black pepper and garlic powder.
Flip meat and season the other side.

Once potatoes are done (a fork should go into potatoes easily),
leave on bottom rack. Move other rack to just below top coils.
Turn oven to broil and put the pan on that shelf.
By leaving the potatoes in the oven, they will not continue to cook,
but this will keep them warm!

Cook for 5 minutes on broil.

Flip meat and continue to cook for another 4 minutes.

Add a small amount of butter to the steaks.

Cook until melted/absorbed into steak. (Approximately 2 minutes).
This gives the meat a rich flavor!
It is the perfect finishing touch!
I learned this "secret" years ago.

Take steak out of oven.

The steak should be medium rare.

Remove potatoes from oven.

Serve the steak and potatoes!
The potatoes will be crisp on the outside.
Inside they will be soft.
They will melt in your mouth!

This is one of our favorites!
I hope it becomes a favorite of yours too!
